Immigration Evaluations
An immigration psychosocial evaluation is a professional assessment of the mental health, psychological functioning, and capability of an individual seeking to immigrate to the U.S. These evaluations are used in immigration courts to help decide if a person should remain in the United States. The immigration evaluation includes any mental health conditions and how deportation would affect the individual and their family.
Is an immigration evaluation required?
Immigration psychosocial evaluations are typically required for asylum cases, hardship waivers, U-Visa, and VAWA. Your immigration attorney may refer you and possibly your entire family for an immigration evaluation as necessary.
There are many benefits of completing an immigration evaluation. Generally, only about 30 to 35% of asylum cases are approved, however, legal cases that include an immigration psychological evaluation have about an 80-90% approval rate.

What does the evaluation consist of?
The immigration psychosocial evaluation consists of a conversation between you, your family, and a mental health evaluator. You will speak with your mental health evaluator for several hours. The session may be split between two different meetings to ensure all information necessary is collected.
