As a client, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining the total cost of your mental health care. Under the No Surprise Act, health care providers must provide patients, who either do not have insurance or choose not to use their insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, which includes counseling/therapy.
You also have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of counseling services rendered by your therapist. Additionally, you have the right to ask us for a Good Faith Estimate, before you schedule an initial session, during your free 15-min phone call consultation. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Both insurance and private-pay options are accepted. At Sana Sana, we accept all major credit/debit cards, plus both Flexible Savings Account (FSA) and Healthcare Spending Account (HSA) in the form of a Visa card.
The following health insurances are accepted: BCBS of Texas, Aetna, and Cigna.
When are payments processed?
Session payments are processed at the start of your session time.
Do you offer sliding scale?
If you are unable to afford paying for weekly services, out-of-pocket or co-pay, below are some alternative options:
a) Bi-weekly or Monthly sessions – We understand that weekly counseling sessions may not always be feasible due to financial or scheduling concerns. As a flexible option, we offer the possibility of bi-weekly or monthly sessions. This allows clients to receive continued support while balancing their financial needs and other responsibilities. These sessions provide the same high-quality care but on a schedule that better fits your lifestyle, ensuring long-term support and growth at a comfortable pace.
b) FSA/HSA Visa Cards – If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) in the form of a Visa card, you can use these pre-tax funds to pay for counseling services. Since counseling is classified as a medical expense, your FSA or HSA Visa card can be a convenient way to cover the cost of sessions, helping you manage your healthcare expenses more effectively while benefiting from tax savings.
c) Income-Based Fee Structure – At Sana Sana Counseling, we understand that financial situations vary, and we are committed to making our services accessible. We offer a limited number of slots for clients to receive counseling at a reduced, income-based fee. During your consultation, please feel free to share your financial circumstances, and we will assess your eligibility for this accommodation. If you qualify and there are available slots, we will work with you to find a fee structure that aligns with your needs.
What happens if I arrive late to my appointment, will I be charged a late fee?
At Sana Sana Counseling, we do not charge late fees. However, you are still responsible for paying the full fee for your scheduled session, as that time was reserved exclusively for you. We do offer a 15-minute grace period—if you arrive within this window, we will provide a shortened, partial session. Please note that even in this case, the full session rate will still apply, and we cannot extend the session time beyond the originally scheduled end.
What happens if I need to cancel my session?
We understand that life happens, and everyone is entitled to cancel or reschedule their session for any reason. To do so, please contact us by phone or email at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. If your request is made within this timeframe, there will be no fee. However, if the request is received less than 24 hours in advance, a cancellation fee equal to the cost of a full session will be charged.
Why go to therapy?
Therapy offers valuable benefits for anyone, regardless of their current situation. Speaking with a knowledgeable therapist can enhance your relationships and overall quality of life. Even if you’re happy, healthy, and surrounded by positive relationships, therapy can serve as a preventative tool to maintain your well-being. It can also help restore relationships that may have been neglected or have become less healthy over time. The benefits of therapy include increased self-awareness, achievement of personal goals, improved relationships, better mental health, and overall life enhancement. Therapy is never something to be embarrassed about, and many people who haven’t tried it yet could greatly benefit from it! At Sana Sana Counseling, we offer services for a variety of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and substance abuse.
